What is LoRa or LoRaWAN?
LoRa or Long Range Wide Area Network is a wireless communication technology that enables long-range communication between devices with low power consumption. It’s a type of low-power wide-area network (LPWAN) technology used to connect sensors, actuators, and other IoT (Internet of Things) devices.
This technology is commonly used in applications where low power consumption and long-range communication are critical, such as smart city infrastructure, environmental monitoring, and agriculture. It’s also used in industrial automation and control systems and other IoT applications.
Benefits of using Connected AirWits CO2 and CO2 Plus devices:
- Long-range communication: Our devices transmit data over a longer distance, enabling you to monitor indoor air quality in larger buildings, warehouses, and other facilities. This helps identify areas with poor indoor air quality and take corrective measures.
- Low power consumption: Our battery-powered monitoring devices and LoRa technology are energy-efficient, enabling devices to run for a longer time without constant battery replacements – with devices able to run up to 10 years.
- Cost-effectiveness: Compared to cellular or Wi-Fi, LoRa technology offers significant cost benefits. This further cements our devices as a viable and preferred option for large-scale deployment. For example, cities in Europe have implemented indoor air quality monitoring in schools and public buildings using LoRaWAN technology. Such projects involve installing more than 1,000 CO2 sensors in schools, community centers, and other public buildings throughout the city.
- Scalability: Our devices are interoperable, allowing them to communicate seamlessly over larger distances. You can integrate a larger number of CO2 monitoring devices into a single system, while monitoring them from a central location. Additionally, our cloud-based platforms, AirWits Insight and FoxerIoT, meet your scalable infrastructure needs for data storage, analysis, and visualisation. We can easily scale up or down depending on the volume of data being processed, and provide real-time insights into your building’s indoor air quality across multiple locations.
